Newly Admitted First-Year Students in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Philosophy, and Science & Technology Studies

Welcome to UC Davis!

The Yellow Cluster serves students in the following majors: Psychology, Cognitive Science, Philosophy, and Science & Technology studies. These majors are housed within the College of Letters & Science. Here's what to expect for the Summer before you start here at UC Davis.

Orientation Steps: Getting Ready For Fall Quarter

STEP 1: Complete Aggie 101 (Available starting May 6th, 2026)

Aggie 101 is an online experience that takes approximately 1-2 hours to complete. By completing Aggie 101, you will:

  • Be introduced to resources for your academic, personal, and social growth
  • Know resources that can help meet your basic needs at UC Davis
  • Understand the academic policies, requirements, and tools necessary for academic planning
  • Identify ways you can build your community on campus

Students admitted for Fall Quarter will access Aggie 101 through their MyAdmissions checklist. Winter & Spring Quarter students will receive an email with their Aggie 101 link. You must complete Aggie 101 before moving on to Aggie Advising. For specific dates, see the Dates and Deadlines page.

STEP 2: Start Aggie Advising (Available May 13th, 2026)

  • Part A: Complete Your Aggie Advising Canvas Course
  • You must complete Aggie 101 in order to move on to Aggie Advising. Aggie Advising will begin with an invitation to your Aggie Advising Canvas course in May for first-year students, and June for transfers. Check out our Dates and Deadlines page for the exact launch dates.

You will receive an invitation to your UC Davis email, or you can navigate directly to the Canvas website where you will log in with your Kerberos ID.

  • Part B: Attend A "Preparing for Pass 1" Webinar
  • The next step in your Aggie Advising process is to attend a “Preparing for Pass 1” webinar. These webinars are mandatory and are designed around your college and student type (first-year or transfer).

Webinar registration directions will be sent to your UC Davis email. In the email, you will see multiple dates/times for this webinar. You only need to attend ONE session. Make sure to choose the correct college register once you receive that email, as seats will fill up quickly.

This webinar will be hosted by current students and will demonstrate how to effectively use Schedule Builder, the online tool that you will use to register for courses here at UC Davis. A panel of students will share insights in building a balanced schedule and maximizing your time outside of classes.

STEP 3: Connect with Advising (Dates Variable)

Students pursuing a major that falls under the College of Letters and Science have two advising teams available to them

  2. Major Advisors - Advises students pursuing a major under their department. Advises on major requirements and cannot advise on non-major related requirements.
