Cognitive Science Mixer

January 19, 7:30-9:00PM

Come meet other students majoring in Cognitive Science! This event will include time to socialize with your peers, advisors and faculty! The event will also feature a brief lecture from one of our Cognitive Science faculty members, Dr. Kenji Sagae:

Polyglot Machines: A New Universal Grammar for AI?

Neural network models have revolutionized the way machines work with human languages and are now an integral part of everyday language technologies, like Siri and Alexa. We will discuss what current artificial intelligence models know about the languages of the world, their similarities and differences, and their relationships. We will focus on multilingual models that discover, on their own, a kind of universal grammar.

This event will no longer be in person, due to COVID-19 Omicron precautions. Please join us on Zoom.
